What type of venation do monocot leaves have?

Monocot leaves posses parallel venation, meaning the veins of the leaf run in parallel lines. Examples of these types of leaves include grasses, lilies and tulips.

Venation refers to the structure of the veins of the leaf. Veins transport liquids and nutrients to the cells of the leaves, and they carry photosynthetic products back to the remaining parts of the tree.

Other types of venation include net-veined or reticulate-veined, which is found in dicot leaves. These may be further divided into pinnate venation and palmate venation. Elm, peach, apple and cherry leaves exhibit pinnate venation, while maple and grape leaves exhibit palmate venation.
