Some trees that are large and fast growing include the hybrid poplar, autumn purple ash, willow hybrid, Leyland cypress, ginkgo, as well as the American sycamore. All of these trees can grow to at least 70 feet tall at maturity.
Hybrid poplars grow between 8 to 10 feet per year and take only three years to reach a height of 40 feet. The autumn purple ash grows from 3 to 5 feet per year and attains 20 feet in three years. The Leyland cypress has a similar growth rate, while the ginkgo grows about 3 feet per year. The willow hybrid grows between 6 and 12 feet per year, and the American sycamore grows as much as 6 feet per year.
