Some types of weather maps are temperature, wind, pressure, radar, jet stream, satellite and front maps. These different weather maps provide information on the prevailing meteorological conditions of a specific location. For example, a temperature map can include the variation in temperatures either on a global scale or confined to a smaller sector, such as a particular city or country.
Some other types of temperature maps are heat index and wind chill factor maps. Most temperature maps can present data with either a color scale or temperature number ranges.
Each particular type of weather map presents different meteorological information that helps meterologists forecast weather conditions. A front map indicates regions of a country that have cold, warm or stationary fronts. A blue line may indicate a cold front, and a warm front is a red line. Alternating blue and red lines can represent a stationary front.
