The recovery time after an ablation procedure can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks, according to WebMD. During this period, a patient may experience nausea, cramping or bloody vaginal discharge. Even so, patients are generally able to leave within a few hours of the procedure's end.
Endometrial ablation is a procedure used to treat bleeding within the uterus of a woman who has already gone through childbirth, states Johns Hopkins Medicine. There are several ways to complete the procedure, either by freezing the uterine lining or using electricity, heat, microwaves or lasers in order to destroy it. The remaining tissue scars over, decreasing the bleeding in the area.
