A fast-track Master of Social Work is typically completed in one year. Some fast-track MSW programs are two semesters in length, and others are three.

The fast-track Master of Social Work is available to students who have advanced standing by earning an undergraduate degree in Social Work through a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Because the undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Social Work curriculum are equivalent to the introductory courses offered in a MSW program, students with a BSW can skip those courses in an MSW program, fast-tracking to the specialized courses.

Fast-track MSW programs are also referred to as advanced standing or five-year masters programs.
