What city is the fashion capital of the world?

As of Sept. 2014, New York City holds the title of top global fashion capital. This title is given through an annual survey by the Global Language Monitor.

Bekka Payack, fashion director for the Global Language Monitor, states that New York City earned its top global fashion capital ranking through its creative approach to the fashion industry. New York gained the title of top global fashion capital after London had held the title in 2011 and 2012. In 2014, Paris came in a very close second place to New York, separated by a mere 0.05 percent. Other top finalists include Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Sydney, Antwerp and Shanghai.
