The locations of U.S. Mint facilities include Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Denver, Colorado; San Francisco, California; West Point, New York; and Fort Knox, Kentucky. The Washington, D.C. location is the headquarters of the U.S. Mint and is primarily used for marketing, research, management and administration.
Each location serves a different purpose within the U.S. Mint system. Fort Knox serves as the storage facility for gold bullion. The Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco and West Point locations all serve as production facilities for specific types of coins and medals. The West Point Mint facility also serves as a storage facility for silver, platinum and gold bullion.
