How do you unglue super glue?

To unglue super glue, apply fingernail polish remover that contains acetone to the glue with a soft cloth or cotton swab. Let it work for a few minutes, and gently pull the surfaces apart. Cleanup glue residue with more fingernail polish remover, rinse, and dry. Test a small area first.

1. Test the surface

   Apply a little fingernail polish remover with acetone to a hidden corner of the item. Wait 10 minutes to make sure it does not harm the surface.

2. Apply fingernail polish remover to the glue

   For large areas, wet a soft cloth with fingernail polish remover. For smaller areas, dip a cotton swab in the remover. Dab the glue with the remover.

3. Work the surfaces apart

   Give the remover a couple of minutes to start working, then gently pull the surfaces apart. Add more fingernail polish remover as necessary. Work slowly a little at a time to avoid damaging the surfaces.

4. Remove the super glue

   Dab the glue spots on the surfaces with more fingernail polish remover, and use a soft toothbrush to work the glue off of the surface.

5. Rinse the surface

   Wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth to remove the fingernail polish remover.

6. Dry the surface

   Dry the surface with a soft cloth.
