What are uninsured figures one year after passage of the Affordable Health Care Act?

The number of uninsured Americans fell to 13.4 percent from 18 percent a year after the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, according to the New York Times. Additionally, the Commonwealth Fund, a non-partisan health research group, found a 5 percent reduction in uninsured people under 65 years old.

In 2010, the Congressional Budget Office, or CBO, estimated that the Affordable Care Act's passage would allow 32 million uninsured Americans to become insured by 2017. A year after the law’s passage, the CBO dropped that number to an estimated 26 million. Recent estimates postulate that approximately 30 million people will remain uninsured, even several years after the law becomes effective.
