Is it free to use the 1040 tax tables on the Internal Revenue Service website?

The tax tables and forms on the Internal Revenue Service, or IRS, website are free to use and print. The tax tables are provided as a guide to show people filing their taxes what they should have paid into taxes based on pre-tax income.
Anything over the amount listed on the tax table for the 1040 is an overpayment. An overpayment is the amount refunded to the taxpayer for the year. It is recommended that taxpayers who receive large overpayments adjust their W-4 forms or their yearly withholdings to reduce the amount of overpayment. This information can be found under the general information and tips section of the tax tables.
