How do you use a microwave to ripen avocados?

Avocados can be ripened by microwaving, though this is not recommended. Remove or puncture the peel and take out the pit. Then microwave for 30 seconds. If the avocado is still not soft, continue the process for 30-second intervals until it softens. Following this process, however, the avocado will not have proper taste or consistency.

1. Remove or puncture the peel

   The peel must be removed or punctured to avoid exploding in the microwave oven.

2. Take out the pit

   Use a spoon or knife to remove the pit.

3. Microwave for a short time

   Microwave for 30 seconds. Microwave for as little time as possible because the avocado will lose its form, consistency and taste. Microwave longer if it is still too hard.
