How do you use an MKV file converter?

Import the MKV file to a converter, and select the appropriate export options to create a successful conversion. You can convert an MKV file using a third-party application such as Freemake Video Converter or an online converter such as Zamzar. Choosing an online converter helps you avoid downloading third-party applications.

1. Start a Web browser

   Double-click the browser icon on your desktop or dock. Wait a few moments for the start page to load.

2. Navigate to Zamzar

   Type the Zamzar Web address in the browser URL text field. Create an account if you want to manage your files in the future. Otherwise, use the free version.

3. Upload the MKV file

   Click the Choose Files button, and navigate to your MKV file. Click Open.

4. Select a conversion format

   Click the arrow in the drop-down box to reveal a list of conversion options. Scroll down to the Video Formats header, and select a conversion format.

5. Enter your information

   Type your email address in the text field. Zamzar sends your converted file to this address.

6. Convert the file

   Click the Convert button to start the process. Wait a few moments, and check your email for a link to download your converted file. Zamzar only stores the converted file for 24 hours before you have to repeat the process.
