Antique motor oil bottles can be used as vases, turned into lamps or used to store small items such as craft supplies or coins. One lamp is made using a low-watt bulb placed inside the bottle and running the cord through the metal spout.

They can also be displayed as collector's items by those interested in petroliana. Vintage motor oil bottles are available in different sizes and shapes on eBay and from some antique stores and estate sales. Some are tall and slender with spouts used to pour oil, and some are jar-shaped bottles.

Some bottles are valuable for logos or embossing. Collectors also value the racks or boxes that the bottles originally came in.
