Veterans Administration housing programs include Special Housing Adaptation and Specially Adapted Housing grants for veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to service-connected disabilities. Other programs include VA Supportive Housing, which provides homeless veterans with permanent housing and treatment services, and the Acquired Property Sales for Homeless Providers program.
As of 2015, VA adaptive housing grants help veterans alter existing homes, or construct or purchase adapted homes that accommodate their disabilities. The Supportive Housing program issues tens of thousands of housing choice vouchers nationwide, providing rental housing at market rates for veterans and their families. The VA operates the program in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under the VA Acquired Property Sales for Homeless Providers program, homeless provider organizations can purchase foreclosed homes from the VA inventory and use them to shelter homeless veterans.
