As of 2015, the 1945 Mercury dime typically carries a value of $1.33 to $3 to collectors in average, circulated condition, according to coin experts at Coinstudy.com and CoinTrackers.com. Rare coins in a certified, mint state could bring anywhere from $161 to $180 at auction, according to the two sites.
Based on the market price of the precious metal, the 90-percent silver coin bears a melt value of roughly $1.15, explains CoinFlation.com.
The Mercury dime was last produced in 1945. While the coins were minted in Denver (and marked D) and San Francisco (and marked S), roughly 62 percent of the 1945 dimes were struck at the Philadelphia mint and are unmarked.
