How is the value of old pop bottles found?

There is no single price guide for pop bottles so, if a local guide cannot be found, a number of other factors must be taken into account. It is important to note that any one of these factors will not make a bottle valuable, as a combination of multiple factors is needed.
These are among the factors to consider when determining the value of an old pop bottle:
- Age This is a major determining factor in bottle value as the bottles age will help to determine if it was hand blown or machine made.
- Rarity
- Condition
- Color
- Esthetics
- Embossing and design
- Category
- Size
- Individuality
- Historical significance
- Locale
Rarity is only a major factor in price if there is a demand for the bottle in question.
The closer the bottle is to its original condition the more valuable it will be.
This is a major factor in price with the unusual colors commanding a higher price.
This factor is totally subjective although it often does play a role.
Embossing adds value primarily when it displays meaningful information about the bottle such as manufacture, patent date or product.
There have been many types of bottles made through out the ages and what the bottle was meant to be used for plays a role in the end value.
Size is not a major consideration but in general a smaller bottle will hold a lesser value than a larger bottle of the same type.
If the bottle was hand blown it may have interesting individual characteristics that help it command a higher price.
A bottle linked to or showing a major historical event will be more valuable.
Where a bottle comes from can greatly influence its value.
