Vanguard Health Care Fund, trading under the symbol VGHCX, is an index fund that Vanguard offers, according to U.S. News & World Report. As of May 2015, the fund has assets of about $50 billion invested in 87 different stocks, as stated on the Vanguard Group website.
Bristol-Myers Squibb, Actavis, Merck, UnitedHealth Group and AstraZeneca are Vanguard Health Care Fund's top holdings, notes the company website. More than 45 percent of the fund's holdings are pharmaceutical companies, and the fund also focuses on biotechnology, health care equipment and managed health care companies. As of March 2015, the fund provided a 29 percent return on investment for the previous one-year and three-year periods.
