The Honda CR-V is Motor Trend magazine's sport utility vehicle of the year in 2015. The SUV has average looks and interior but features engineering excellence, says Motor Trend. The CR-V's gas mileage improved 12 percent to an estimated 26 in the city and 33 on the highway.
The 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine generates 185 horsepower at 6,400 revolutions per minute, which Motor Trend says is a 600-rpm improvement over the previous generation of CR-V. Torque improved from 163 foot-pounds at 4,400 rpm to 181 foot-pounds at 3,900 rpm. The all-wheel-drive vehicle goes from 0 to 60 in 8.5 seconds, 0.6 second off the prior generation.
Motor Trend praises the SUV's continuously variable automatic transmission, light steering, competent handling and safety improvements, including a structurally reinforced occupant compartment.
