How can you reset the SRS light on a Mercedes?

The SRS warning light on a Mercedes can be reset using a special diagnostic tool, such as the i980 iCarSoft kit. The diagnostic tool interprets the cause for the fault and resets the warning light. This fix is only temporary.

A common fault in the seat pad detector circuit in the Mercedes causes the SRS light to turn on again after a reset. In order to permanently turn off the SRS light, a new seat pad needs to be installed or the automatic child seat detection circuit needs to be deactivated. If the child seat detection circuit is deactivated, a child seat cannot be safely installed in the front seat ever again.
