Depending on the method used to replace the title of a car in Illinois, the process can take as little as two days, explains the Illinois DMV. Replacement requests with proper documentation and an additional fee can be expedited so the individual receives the replacement the following day.
To receive the expedited title the day after requesting it, the individual must make the request prior to noon and pay a $30 fee, according to the Illinois DMV as of December 2014. Without expediting the process, an individual would have to apply either in person at the secretary of state's office or by mail, which can be a lengthier process.
