What is a Vega?

Ford and Chevrolet each produced a model of car that they called the Vega. Only one Ford Vega was made in 1953, while the Chevrolet Vega was a line of subcompacts produced from 1970 to 1977.

The one Ford Vega that exists began as a conceptual entry in a design contest. The car was built after Henry Ford II personally expressed interest in the design. In 2006, it was sold to a private car collector.

The Chevrolet Vega was available in a number of different body styles. It was initially popular and won an award from Motor Trend, but the Vega became infamous for problems toward the end of its production life.
