The Ventra in the city of Chicago is a payment system that is officially used by the Chicago Transit Authority and Pace systems. The Ventra payment system was implemented in Chicago on July 1, 2014, and replaced all of the old payment media.
Chicago citizens can opt to use four different methods to pay their transit fares using Ventra. These four methods are the Ventra card, tickets, contactless credit and debit cards, and compatible smartphones. Ventra also allows the purchase of transit passes that are valid for one, three, seven or 30 days. New registration of Ventra cards is also rewarded with an immediate $5 refund that is debited to the account.
