The Veterans Affairs' IRIS stands for Inquiry Routing and Information System. Veterans use the system to locate information about services offered by the department.

IRIS also serves as a messaging system. Veterans can send secure messages containing personal information to the Veteran Affairs, or VA. A veteran can choose this system to get a response via email, phone or mail.

IRIS also has information about the nearest VA facilities, toll free numbers for the VA and how to appeal a decision made by the department. The system also offers links to services, such as My HealtheVet and the Veterans Crisis hotline. Registration is not required to use the system.
