What is a VGA cable?

By Forinfos - 18/05/2026 - 0 comments

A video graphics adapter or VGA cable is a connector that carries a single, analogue signal between electrical devices. The VGA cable delivers a video signal, and it works with an audio cable to deliver a full program with sound.

Video graphic adapter or array cables cannot transmit digital information. VGA cables are suited to cathode-ray tubes, which process analogue signals only. Because they cannot process digital information without a video adapter, digital video interface or DVI cables are used to facilitate digital connections between computers and VGA-enabled devices.

The high-definition multimedia interface, or HDMI, is the next step for video and audio transmission. As of 2014, it is compatible with DVI, but not with VGA.
