A VGA port, Video Graphics Array port, is a socket that requires a 3-row, 15-prong connector found on laptops, basic personal computers, monitors and projectors to transfer and display images. The resolution of a VGA port image starts at 640 by 480 pixels.
A single, VGA cable connection can be used for a number of electronic devices due to the universal shape and function of VGA ports. VGA was first introduced in 1987 by IBM to improve on the resolution of digital pictures. Since IBM introduced VGA sockets, the resolution of digital images on laptops and personal computers has increased.
