A Vicks nasal inhaler, which may be sold under the name VapoInhaler, has the active ingredient levmetamfetamine that helps to decongest swollen nasal passages due to a cold. Some other usesfor this medication are to relieve the symptoms of hay fever or other types of respiratory problems, reports the National Institutes of Health.
When using the VapoInhaler,one should follow the recommendeddosing instructions. The product should not be used for longer than 7 days, explains the Physicians' Desk Reference. Some side effects associated with Vicks inhalers are a burning sensation and an increase in discharge from the nose. Over use of this product can also lead to worsening of the nasal congestion.
