What is viewpoint media player?

Viewpoint Media Player is a web browser plug-in for viewing 3D and other media rich content. It comes bundled with some software such as AOL Instant Messenger.

Experts are split on whether or not it constitutes spyware, since it does not directly inform users that it's installing as a part of another program and connects to the Internet via another program (Viewpoint Manager) without asking permission to find updates. It also asks to install the company's toolbar, and its privacy EULA is self-contradictory. Most experts agree that it is safe to remove, as few users who install the related programs need the features provided by it.
