Is vinegar effective in removing mold?

Vinegar is a natural and effective way to remove mold. A five-percent solution of vinegar, which can be bought in most supermarkets, can kill up to 82 percent of mold.
Vinegar works best as a mold-killer when it is sprayed directly onto the affected area from a spray bottle. Let it sit for a couple hours before scrubbing the mold with a brush. If the vinegar smell is bothersome, dilute the solution with water. Doing this dissipates the strong odor, but it also makes the solution less effective. Vinegar can also be used to prevent mold if left to dry on surfaces that are prone to mold buildup.
