Does vinegar remove bloodstains?

Vinegar removes bloodstains best if the stains are treated before they set. White vinegar should be poured directly on the stain and allowed to soak for five to 10 minutes. The stain should then be blotted with a clean cloth and washed immediately.
Many other household items are effective at removing bloodstains, including talcum powder, cornstarch and ammonia. Soaking bloodstained items in cola or cold saltwater also helps lift the stain. Spraying WD-40 on bloodstains just before washing is another effective treatment. For fresh bloodstains, hydrogen peroxide may be poured directly on the spot. The item should then be rinsed immediately and washed as recommended.
