Distilled white vinegar has many uses outside the salad bowl, including odor control. To fix odor problems in 20 minutes or less, you need vinegar, a small spray bottle, a bowl, a sponge and a box of baking soda.
Erase cabbage odor
Fill a small bowl with vinegar, and place it near the stove when cooking cabbage to neutralize the smell as you cook.
Freshen your room
Fill a small spray bottle with vinegar and spray to freshen the air and remove odors. Use the spray on trash cans, carpets and sneakers, too.
Refresh your refrigerator
Wipe down shelves, walls and surfaces with a sponge soaked in vinegar, and let the vinegar dry. When the vinegar dries, it takes odors with it.
Renew your dishwasher
Add vinegar to the dishwasher before each rinse cycle to deodorize your machine and leave your glasses sparkling clean.
Remove mildew odors from laundry
Add 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove musty, moldy smells from heavy cotton items such as towels or jeans. Never mix vinegar with bleach.
Freshen your drain
Pour half a box of baking soda down the drain, followed by enough vinegar to create foam. Let the mixture settle, and repeat as needed.
