A virtual yard sale is where someone uses Facebook or another social media site to sell his items. The seller take pictures of each item and posts them online for others to purchase.

Some virtual yard sales have a set price for each item, while others are like auctions where people can bid on the items. The person who commits to purchasing an item is often given different options, such as sending them payment online and having the item shipped or paying cash in person and picking it up. Virtual yard sales are easier to put together in some ways, as the person selling items doesn't need to rely solely on people in his neighborhood. However, it is more time consuming taking picture and uploading them.
