Common warts have been effectively treated with topical vitamin A, according to a study published in the Virology Journal. Daily applications of vitamin A derived from fish liver oil have been shown to restore the health of wart infected skin in approximately 70 days.
Researchers cited in the Virology Journal used a sterile needle to puncture the oil capsule and applied the oil directly to the affected area each night before bedtime. The oil was allowed to soak in, and soap was not used for hand washing until the following morning. Three to four days a week, an additional dose of vitamin A was applied mid-day. Small warts were gone at 70 days, and larger warts took four to six months to vanish.
