What is a wart on the foot called?

A wart on the foot is called a verruca, or a plantar wart, according to WebMD. Specifically, it is a wart that appears on the sole of the foot.
Though it is harmless and caused by a virus like other warts, a plantar wart is pushed into the skin by the actions of standing or walking, says WebMD. This makes these warts especially painful. However, verrucas are likely to vanish on their own.
There are treatments if the wart doesn't go away on its own or if the pain interferes with daily life, claims WebMD. A doctor or other medical professional is able to burn it, freeze it, scrape it off or apply chemicals such as salicylic acid.
