Why does water with oil boil faster than plain water?
By Forinfos - 05/09/2025 - 0 comments
Water with oil does not reach boiling point faster than plain water. In fact, plain water starts to boil at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, while soybean oil boils at about 572 F. Adding oil to the water would raise its boiling temperature, making it take longer to reach a boil.
The boiling point of oil varies greatly depending on the type of oil, but all must reach a higher temperature than water to reach boiling. The only way to get oil or water with oil to boil faster is to put it over a burner that heats up faster. This way the oily water reaches the desired boiling point faster than the burner with plain water sitting on it.
