Do I have to wax a new snowboard?

Waxing a new snowboard is not necessary, but it is often recommended in order to protect the board and to make it run faster. New snowboards normally have wax already on them, but factory wax only lasts for a day's worth of snowboarding.

There are several supplies that are needed when waxing a snowboard: a cloth to clean the base of the board, base cleaner, an iron that will only be used on the snowboard, a suitable wax, a sponge, a brush and a scraper.
