Yellow-bellied sliders do well living in a shallow water aquarium with a filtration system and a suitable dry area for basking. A 60-gallon aquarium works well for adult yellow-bellied turtles. The water temperature should be around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Yellow-bellied turtles are omnivorous and thrive on a diet of commercially prepared turtle food, fresh vegetables and a protein source, such as small fish or crickets. Young turtles enjoy a diet high in meat, but eat vegetation and packaged turtle food.
Yellow-bellied turtles are sociable and happily live with other water turtles. If more than one turtle is kept in a tank, the size of the tank should increase to allow enough room for swimming and basking.
