What is the best way to clean hardwood floors?

Weekly cleaning of hardwood floors is best performed with an electrostatic dust mop that is effective at picking up dirt, dust, pet hair and dander. Over time, an electrostatic dust mop doesn't effectively remove all oil, dirt and grime buildup.

Deeper cleaning of hardwood floors is often necessary. To do this, use a wood-cleaning product like Bona or Pine-Sol, and dilute it in water in accordance with the instructions. Soak a mop or sponge in the mixture, and thoroughly wring it dry prior to mopping the floor. Make sure to go over the wood floor again with a dry mop to remove standing water that could warp or damage the floor.
