Waylon Jennings is buried at Mesa Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona. In 2002, Jennings passed away in his sleep due to diabetes in Chandler, Arizona. The year prior he had his left foot amputated to improve his leg circulation.
Jennings was an outlaw country singer and songwriter who became a musician at an early age. In the 1950s, he became friends with Buddy Holly and played bass in his band. In 1958, Holly died in a plane crash on a flight which Jennings himself nearly took. Jennings later began his own musical career, playing both solo and with other legendary musicians. Jennings eventually released several number-one hit songs.
