Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureas can be contracted through direct contact of a MRSA wound, states the Centers for Disease Control. Contact with a MRSA wound may occur through sharing towels or razors or through skin-to-skin contact.
MRSA is a common infection that can be found in the general public. However, it may run rampant in places where people are in very close quarters with one another, such as day cares, locker rooms, hospital rooms and military barracks, states the Centers for Disease Control. Maintaining good hygiene, avoiding sharing personal items and keeping wounds covered can help reduce the risk of a MRSA infection.
