The Lenni Lenape Indians, who inhabited North America, carried bows and arrows, spears, and heavy stone clubs. These weapons were used for hunting and for defending their homes.

Typically, the bows were made of pliable wood, and a piece of deerskin was used as the bowstring. The arrowheads were made from flint, quartz, antlers or animal bones. Spears were made from flint and quartz. These fine-grain minerals were easily sharpened, which is why they were used for making weapons. The heavy stone clubs were used to kill animals that had been wounded by an arrow but were not yet dead.
