What is the weight of a case of wine?
By Forinfos - 28/04/2026 - 0 comments
A case of wine holds 12 bottles and typically weighs between 36 and 48 pounds. The actual weight varies according to bottle size and thickness, as well as the weight of the liquid contained in the bottles.
According to journalist Dan Berger in an article published in the "The Napa Valley Register," cases of wine previously weighed only 34 pounds, due to lighter bottles. The current increase in the average case weight is accredited to heavier wine bottles weighing as much as 4 pounds, 4.5 ounces each, resulting in a case potentially weighing over 51 pounds. When determining shipping costs for a case of wine, the weight of the packaging must be added to the total.
