What is the weight of the men's shot put in high school?
By Forinfos - 25/07/2025 - 0 comments
The ball used for the boys' shot put at high school track and field events weighs 12 pounds. In men's college and professional competition, the weight of the ball increases to 16 pounds.
When the shot putter "puts" the ball with one hand from the throwing circle, which is 7 feet in diameter, the ball must land within the 65-degree sector lines and not drop below the shoulders at any point during the throw. The distance of the throw is recorded as the measurement from the inside of the toe board, which is at the front of the throwing circle, to the nearest impact mark made by the ball.
