Dorothy McGuire was born in 1928, Christine McGuire in 1929 and Phyllis McGuire in 1931. The McGuire sisters were from Middletown, Ohio and their mother was an ordained minister. The McGuire sisters got their start singing in the church.

Because the McGuire sisters were raised in a religious household, they had to listen to secular music in secrecy. The McGuire sisters were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The group released several hit songs. Their most popular songs are "Sincerely" and "Sugartime." Dorothy McGuire died in 2012 at the age of 84 in Arizona after suffering from Parkinson's disease.
