What were the weapons of the Chickasaw Indians?

The main weapons of the Chickasaw Indians were bows and arrows. They made the elastic sinew for bowstrings from the ligaments of large animals such as deer.

Chickasaw Indians were mainly hunters and fishermen, and as such, they used their bows and arrows both as hunting tools and weapons. Fishermen used spears. Besides firing their bows in battle, Chickasaw Indians also fought with lances and tomahawks, and they employed shields to defend themselves. They sometimes used arrows set on fire against their enemies.

Chickasaw Indians lived in the areas of Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky. Most of them were relocated to Oklahoma in the 19th century.
