Where does the western diamondback rattlesnake live?

The western diamondback rattlesnake lives in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is found in Oklahoma, New Mexico, California and Arizona in the United States.

This rattler makes its home in a variety of regions and is found in coastal areas, rocky hillsides, forests, grassy plains and deserts. It can live at elevations from below sea level up to 6,500 feet.

The rattler spends its time during the hottest daytime hours in the shade offered by rocks, low-growing shrubs or natural or artificial debris. It may also take up residence in the underground burrows of other animals and hibernates in caves or other similar places in the winter.
