Wimberley, Texas, is located in the south-central portion of the state between Austin and San Antonio. It is 16 miles from San Marcos, and its absolute location is 29 degrees 59 minutes 44 seconds north latitude and 98 degrees 6 minutes 3 seconds west longitude.
Wimberley occupies 16.1 square miles in central Hays County in what is known as Texas Hill Country at the point where the Cypress Creek meets the Blanco River. Settled as a trading post in 1856, it was not incorporated until 2000. The 2010 census puts the population at 2,626. Wimberley's school system contains one primary, one elementary, one junior high and one high school.
