The fictional city of Arlen, Texas, the setting for much of the action in the animated television series "King of the Hill," is located near Houston, Dallas and Corpus Christi, Texas, depending on the episode. Arlen is situated in Heimlich County, which is also fictional.
In several episodes, the character Khan commutes from Arlen to Houston for work. Main character Hank Hill's father Cotton also lives in Houston. However, show writers regularly shifted the geographic location of Arlen to make it impossible to identify on a real map of Texas. The exterior of a number of Arlen buildings depicted in the series look a lot like several in Denton, which is located in North Texas.
