Hawaiian masks, more popularly known as tiki masks, symbolize very important respected authorities -particularly deities or gods, guardians and spirit powers from the Hawaiian culture. These wooden masks are used in home decor. They are also believed to ward off evil spirits and increase the owner's fertility.
Most of the designs of tiki masks are based on their four principal gods - Ku, Kane, Kanaloa and Lono. Ku is the ancient tiki god of war. Kane is the god of sunlight and natural life. Kanaloa is the deity of the sea, while Lono rules over peace, winds, rain, sports and fertility.
