What are Lakshmi Pooja mantras?

Mantras are special sounds, words or phrases intended to aid entrance into a meditative state, and Lakshmi Puja or Pooja mantras are performed in worship of the goddess Lakshmi. These mantras are recited in conjunction with the festival of Diwali, a Hindu festival of lights typically celebrated in October.

Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. She is a favorite goddess among women, one of the mother goddesses in addition to being a goddess of the household. The form in which she appears is a woman who has four hands and is both resting upon and holding a lotus flower. The lotus flower is a symbol of beauty, purity and fertility.
