Is it worth driving an hour to find the cheapest diesel fuel prices?

It's only worth driving an hour to find cheap diesel if the difference in price times the amount of diesel purchased equals or is greater than the costs incurred when driving such a distance. Otherwise, the expenses incurred by the trip outweigh the savings, resulting in a net loss.
If it is assumed that driving for an hour to and from the cheaper station uses at least a gallon of gas, at $2.23 a gallon, a difference of 10 cents would require the purchase of 22.3 gallons of diesel to break even. For specific calculations, the price of diesel at both stations would have to be known beforehand, as well as the average gas mileage of the car being driven for the trip.
